were paid one million euros for their presence, while Benfica kept 60% of the gate receipts, the organisers Gama Sport keeping the rest.
Benfica coach Jesualdo Ferreira

Real Madrid's Luís Figo, who was the subject of a tribute before the game, was happy with his physical progress: "My main objective is to see how my ankle is bearing up - and I haven't felt any
pains." Asked to comment on the nomination of Agostinho Oliveira as national team coach, he was critical of the selection process: "AO is the best choice for the moment - he knows the players and he has
done well at lower levels [U-21], but you can't ask him to work for two months and win the European Championship. As for whether I would like a Portuguese or a foreign coach ... well, it's not up to me. I'm in the
Selecção to serve it."

Sporting drew 0-0 with Celta de Vigo
Wednesday in front of just six thousand at Alvalade. It was a final rehearsal before their Champions League third preliminary round matches against Inter Milan, the first of which is next Wednesday. Once
again, Sporting's lack of bite in attack was their weak point: they are sorely missing the busyness of João Pinto (suspended until October) and the cool finishing of Mário Jardel (on 'psychological leave'). New
signings Kutuzov and Marcos Paulo came on in the second half, but the Brazilian was taken off near the end with a knee injury: not an auspicious start.

Meyong, unmarked close to goal on the left, smacked home a consolation goal in the dying minutes.
