There is controversy in the changing room at Benfica after last year's club captain, winger Simão Sabrosa, was voted out by the players and replaced by central defender Hélder. Simão has accused
Hélder of campaigning, but said on his official site that he wants the thing forgotten, and that he will sort out the problem internally. But the situation has cast a shadow over the club's pre-season preparation in
the South of Spain.

A coach carrying Benfica's futsal team and a private vehicle collided Saturday, causing the death of the four people travelling in the private vehicle. The coach was returning from a friendly match in the north of Portugal.
José Peseiro has signed a two-year deal to be Carlos Queirós's assistant at Real Madrid.

The charity match between the Luís Figo Foundation and UNICEF ended in a 5-5
draw Wednesday. Raúl, Ronaldo and Pauleta (3) scored for the Foundation, Sérgio conceição, Micehel Salgado, Zidane, Van Nistelrooy and Sol campbell (O.G.) for UNICEF. Michael Scumacher
was voted the Man of the Match with three passes for goals. thge match was also the occasion of the inauguration of the South End at Boavista's Bessa Stadium. There are now three sides of the ground up.
