Portugal are in Group B for qualifying, along with Ukraine, Serbia, Lithuania and Luxembourg.

Portugal were seeded for the draw as a result of making it to the Final Four of the Nations League, which also meant that they are in a group of only five teams instead of six.

Two from each of the ten groups qualify for the European Championship finals. Because Portugal topped their group during the Nations League group stage, they will go through to a play-off even if they don’t qualify directly from Group B.

Qualification will take place between 21 March and 19 November 2019. Play-offs will be between 26 and 31 March 2020.

The countries that will host the finals will be Azerbaijan, Denmark, England, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Holland, Republic of Ireland, Romania, Russia, Scotland and Spain.
