Portugal have been drawn in Group F for the Euro 2016 finals in France, along with Hungary, Iceland and Austria.
If Portugal win the group, they’ll play the second team from Group E (Belgium, Italy, Republic of Ireland, Sweden).
If Portugal come second, they’ll play the second team from Group B (England, Russia, Wales, Slovakia).
If Portugal finish one of the best third-placed teams, they’ll play the winner of Group D (Spain, Czech Republic, Turkey, Croatia) or the winner of Group C (Germany, Ukraine, Poland, Northern Ireland).
AS Monaco midfielder João Moutinho has pulled out of the national squad for the France and Albania games (see below) due to an ankle injury.
Pepe, Miguel Veloso and Raphael Guerreiro return to the national squad for the friendly against France (04/09, Alvalade) and the Euro 2016 qualifier in Albania (07/09, Elbasan). Out of the squad in relation to the last one are full-back Fábio Coentrão, and midfielders Pizzi (Benfica) and Carriço (Sevilla), while Tiago (Atlético Madrid) is suspended and William Carvalho (Sporting) is injured.
